Free Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum
215 S Tejon St, Colorado Springs, CO 80903
Free local-history museum housed in the 1903 El Paso County Courthouse — the original courtroom is preserved, and exhibits cover Pikes Peak, the Ute people, and city founding.
One of the best free museums in the city, right on Tejon Street downtown. The building alone is worth the visit — the restored 1903 courtroom is on the third floor and still has its original judge’s bench.
Permanent exhibits cover the Ute people, Helen Hunt Jackson, and the founding of Colorado Springs as a “tuberculosis colony” turned resort town. Plan an hour. Pair with lunch on Tejon afterward.
