A 5,000-acre alpine park at 9,500 feet — wildflowers, aspens, granite outcrops, and a network of well-marked trails with constant Pikes Peak views.
About a 45-minute drive west through Woodland Park and Divide. The day-use parking pass (or Colorado state parks pass) is required — the entrance kiosk takes credit cards.
The Outlook Ridge Trail (1.2 mi to the overlook) is the easiest big-payoff hike. Cheesman Ranch is the longer mellow loop. Aspen viewing in late September is spectacular here — go early to beat the crowds.
