May Natural History Museum

A delightfully old-school roadside museum on the way to Cheyenne Mountain — 8,000 tropical insects, including the giant herculean beetle that's the museum's mascot.

Look for the giant beetle “Hercules” out front — that’s how you know you’ve arrived. The museum is a true family roadside-Americana experience built around the May family’s century of insect collecting around the world.

Kids love it. Adults appreciate the wonderfully not-modernized exhibits (the labels are all hand-typed). Combine with a drive up Old Stage Road for great views.
