Intemann Trail

A 6-mile traverse linking Manitou Springs to Section 16 along the foothills — varied scrub, granite outcrops, and the best ridge-line view of Pikes Peak you can get without climbing it.

Named for Paul Intemann, the Manitou-based environmentalist who championed the trail in the 80s. You can hike any segment — the eastern Manitou trailhead is the most popular, with switchbacks up to the first ridge.

The full traverse to Section 16 is best done as a car shuttle. Otherwise, hike 2 miles in and out for the best view-to-effort ratio. Watch for the painted Intemann markers on rocks.
