🥾 Hiking & Trails
Free Barr Trail (Pikes Peak)
13 Hydro St, Manitou Springs, CO 80829
The legendary 13-mile, 7,500-vertical-foot trail to the summit of Pikes Peak — the full hike is a serious mountaineering day, but the lower miles are a great moderate Manitou hike on their own.
The trailhead is at the top of Ruxton Avenue in Manitou, right next to the cog railway depot. Parking is limited and fills by 6 AM in summer — most hikers shuttle from the Iron Springs Chateau lot down the hill.
For a half-day, hike up to No Name Creek (4 mi round-trip) or Barr Camp (12 mi round-trip — the traditional turnaround). The full summit hike (26 mi round-trip) requires either a 3 AM start or an overnight at Barr Camp.
